1)Initial consultation

This is to meet and look at the garden together, discuss some possibilities and get a feel for what the project might entail. This enables a written quote to be prepared for the design work up to stage 3 and an estimate for stages 4 & 5. Overall budgets for the garden will also be discussed at this point.

2) Site survey

On approval of the quote, an accurate site survey is taken (a land surveyor may be needed for larger or more complex sites) and a more thorough client brief is put together. All the issues are discussed; practical considerations, the clients tastes and wishes, possible materials and plants.

3) Outline plan

This drawing enables the ideas for the garden to be presented which together with any supporting visuals will show how the finished garden will look. A more detailed version, a master plan, may be needed for larger sites. This stage allows for any changes to be made, the resulting drawing acting as a blueprint for project phasing and forms the basis from which the more detailed construction and planting plans are taken.

4) Hard landscape plan and construction details

This is the plan from which the contractor will be able to cost, set out and build the garden. Construction details of any specific structures or features will be included.

5) Planting plan and plant schedule

This shows the location and spacing of all the plants, and an accompanying schedule lists the sizes and quantities used for costing and ordering. Easy to use planting maintenance schedules are included to help care for the planting.
