Sylvan Gardens

We were keen to preserve the rather special ‘secret garden’ atmosphere of this large space which over the years had been planted with many lovely climbing Roses and fruit trees.

We worked very hard with Mikhail Riches Architects to keep the best of these elements but bring it up to date with the house’s extensive refurbishments.

The largest part of the garden away from the house sits mostly in the dappled shade of trees which gives it a ‘Sylvan’ quality – we cleared large sections and created a woodland meadow under the old fruit trees and built a series of paths through deep planting beds filled with Geulder Rose, snowy woodrush, Violets and Geraniums.
