Virginia Waters

The house was surrounded by a large but rather dull garden which felt more like a series of disconnected spaces than a whole garden.

To help link these different areas and provide a dramatic focal point we created a formal flower garden with a large cruciform pond at its heart. This is a place to stop and linger, it is a place to sit and bask in summer’s glories.

Contrasting with this and other areas of formal lawns and borders, we created wilder spaces, adding Japanese flowering Cherry trees underplanted with drifts of spring flowering Narcissus, the grass becoming more meadow like as the summer progresses, allowing for paths to be mown through.
